What age should kids start martial arts in Wollongong?
Updated: 1d
There is no magic birthday. There is a class that matches the child in front of you.
At First 2 Strike we take kids from about four when they can follow a short instruction and stay in the room. Teens train in their own group. Adults have classes too — they are not the focus.
Ages 4 to 7
Short drills. Games that still teach stance, balance and listening. Lots of praise for trying, not for looking tough.
Ages 8 to 12
More technique. Simple self-defence. BJJ positions they can remember. This is where focus and confidence usually jump.
Teens
Harder work, more responsibility, still coached. Teens who only want fitness or who want a real skill both fit here.
Not sure?
Bring them to a free trial in Figtree or Woonona. We will put them in the right group after we see them move.
