At First 2 Strike Freestyle Martial Arts, our adults program teaches a practical, free-flowing martial arts system focused on real-world self-defence. Training develops confidence, focus, and physical conditioning, while also improving mental resilience and stress management — without competition pressure or ego-driven training.

Our freestyle approach evolves with each student. We draw from proven martial arts systems to create training that is effective, adaptable, and realistic, preparing you for real-world situations while improving overall fitness and capability. Whether your goal is self-defence, confidence, or staying physically and mentally sharp, our adult classes provide structured, challenging, and rewarding training.

Our Training Philosophy

Our approach is practical and realistic. Training focuses on:

  • Self-defence - avoidance, awareness and response

  • Confidence and mental resilience

  • Strength, fitness, coordination and conditioning

  • Focus, discipline, and control

  • Progressive training that challenges students physically and mentally

Whether you’re new to martial arts or returning after a break, our classes are structured, supportive, and scalable to your ability level.

Belt System & Progression

Our Teens & Adults program follows a 12-belt progression system, guiding students from White Belt to Black Belt. Advancement is based on consistent training, technical development, and attitude — not competition results.

Students are invited to grade by the Head Instructor once they demonstrate readiness.

We also use Tip Testing (Stripes) to recognise progress between belt gradings:

  • Conducted approximately every six weeks, based on individual progress

  • Rewards commitment and skill development

  • Students must complete a minimum of 12 classes before testing

This system keeps students motivated while maintaining high standards.

Skills You Will Learn

Training includes:
Punching, kicking, blocking, combinations, controlled sparring, close-range techniques, pad and bag work, grappling, groundwork, joint locks, throws & takedowns, weapons defence, and more...

All training is delivered in a safe, structured, and respectful environment.
